A Passion for Strategic Planning Rooted in a Lifetime of Learning

Scott Martin’s passion for financial education began early — attending seminars led by his father, a real estate and tax expert, where he was once introduced as his “favorite tax deduction.” This early exposure fostered a lifelong love of learning, strategic thinking, and helping others make smarter financial decisions.

Today, Scott is proud to serve clients with a commitment to clarity, strategy, and integrity. His mission: to empower clients to feel confident about their future through customized, actionable financial strategies.

Proficiency Across Complex Scenarios

Scott is one of only 70 instructors nationally selected to present financial education initiatives to major U.S. corporations and governmental agencies with Barnum Financial Group.

He regularly teaches seminars on:

    • Retirement income planning
    • Investment strategies
    • Tax planning strategies
    • Estate planning strategies

This work often involves resolving complex financial scenarios that can accompany owning properties in different states, running or selling a business, and participating in multi-generational planning. Through his understanding of these complexities, Scott delivers not just a plan, but a strategy to maximize and retain his clients’ wealth.

A Holistic, Client-Centric Approach

Scott believes that true financial planning starts with active listening.

Clients often begin their first meeting feeling uncertain and overwhelmed — but leave feeling confident, informed, and empowered. His planning process integrates all aspects of wealth management, with an emphasis on personalized, actionable advice.

Typical Questions Scott Helps Clients Answer:

      • When can I retire, and how much do I need to maintain my lifestyle?
      • How can I minimize my taxes now and throughout retirement?
      • What’s the most effective investment strategy for my goals?

A Unique Perspective Built on Experience

Before becoming a financial planner, Scott built a diverse professional background spanning banking, insurance, tax planning, and real estate advisory to public builders and developers.

This 360° perspective gives him a deeper, practical understanding of how the pieces of a client’s financial life fit together.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He holds the professional designations of:

    • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®)
    • Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®)
    • Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®)
    • Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®)

He maintains these certifications through rigorous continuing education and is committed to upholding the highest fiduciary standards.

Personal Life and Community Commitment

Scott and his wife Alisa split their time between Seattle, Santa Barbara, and Cave Creek, Arizona, often accompanied by their spirited Portuguese Water Dog, Mochi.

In his downtime, Scott enjoys mountain biking, hiking, water and snow skiing, and competitive games of Scrabble.

Scott is honored to have contributed 60+ hours of pro bono financial planning in 2024, helping individuals and families in need. He is proud to be part of a community dedicated to making a meaningful impact through ethical, objective financial guidance.
