  • Special Care Planner

Providing for the financial needs of both a dependent with special needs as well as the wealth accumulation and protection needs of the family requires a holistic life care planning approach. Kevin is a Special Care Planner who designs, implements and manages life care plans for people with disabilities and their families that integrate and coordinate legal, financial, insurance, investments, tax management and benefit strategies customized to each family’s unique situation.

Kevin follows a disciplined, strategic process which results in a detailed game plan that addresses retirement savings and income generation needs as well as creating a financial safety net for the dependent while protecting benefits. Supported by a team of experts in the key areas of financial planning, Kevin also integrates your other trusted advisors including your attorney, accountant, and service organizations to make sure that all aspects of your plan are working together to achieve your objectives. Kevin gives each family the information and knowledge they need to understand the components of their plan and make informed decisions with confidence. The goal is to provide the peace of mind that you have made well-thought-out strategic financial moves so you can focus on your other priorities.

Kevin has been working with families with dependents with special needs for several decades. He was a founding member of what became MetLife’s Center for Special Needs Planning and helped create a similar unit at Barnum Financial Group. Today he is a designated Special Care Planner at MassMutual, which has partnered with The American College to create the first academic center to serve as a leading authority on life care planning for people with a disability or special need. His knowledge and experience combined with his ability to simplify complex topics and outline specific strategies families can implement has made him a thought-leader in the special needs community. He is a well-respected speaker, conducting workshops in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Virginia. Many who have heard him speak go on to engage him as their financial advisor.

A life-long learner, Kevin works to stay abreast of the constantly changing legal and tax laws impacting the special needs community. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, the recognized standard of excellence in ethical financial planning. He is also a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), the professional credential for persons involved in the protection, accumulation, preservation, and distribution of the economic values of human life.

In addition to his many pro bono speaking engagements, Kevin is an original board member of Foundation for Life, a non-profit organization known for its “Bikes for Kids” program and supporting organizations that better the lives of those in need in the community.
