Matthew Morrill

Matt’s passion for finance began early—while his high school teammates spent lunch breaks in the gym, Matt could be found reading the Wall Street Journal. This early interest led him to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from UConn, followed by a Master’s in Quantitative Economics from UNC Charlotte.

Matt’s path to financial advising wasn’t direct. After graduation, he built valuable experience in supply chain management at Pratt & Whitney and later in Texas. However, his true calling emerged when helping his father navigate retirement planning. Seeing firsthand how proper financial guidance could have benefited his father inspired Matt to pursue advisory work professionally.

This personal experience drives Matt’s client-focused approach today. After starting his career with OneAmerica and later working with Prudential, he found his professional home at Barnum Financial Group, where he helps clients avoid the financial pitfalls he witnessed in his own family.

Outside the office, Matt is devoted to his 9-year-old boxer and enjoys hiking with his canine companion. He’s become an enthusiastic CrossFit participant, building on his lifelong interest in fitness. Family remains central to his life—he cherishes time with his nephew and niece (twins) and maintains close relationships with his parents. When relaxing, Matt can often be found enjoying historical fiction, particularly works by Ken Follett.
